In A Split Second...
A drunk driver killed Caitlin Weese in May of 2003. One week before graduating from Larkin High School, and just three weeks before her 18th Birthday.

In 2004 the first annual walk was organized to
help raise money for both an annual Larkin High
School Scholarship Fund set up in Caitlin’s memory, and a portion of the proceeds are
donated to AAIM, the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists, to help benefit families of victims affected by drunk driving crashes.

In June of 2005, Walk 5K For Caitlin became officially registered as a 501(c)3 status non-profit organization.

We enjoyed another great turnout for the 2008 Walk with nearly 200 registered walkers!  Click here pictures from this years event...

Caitlin will be first to benefit from the
Illinois Roadside Memorial Act

January 2008, the Illinois Legislature passed a new
Act intended to raise public awareness of impaired driving by placing state sactioned roadside signs along Illinois roadways, marking
the area where victims of crashes died as a result involving someone driving under the influence.

By the request of AAIM and approval of IDOT, Caitlin Weese's Roadside Memorial Marker sign will be one of the first in the state to be erected.  The sign will be a little smaller than a speed limit sign, with a blue background and white lettering showing the message: "Please Don't Drink and Drive".  A separate panel below will note "In memory of Caitlin Weese" and date of her fatal crash.

This first Roadside Memorial sign will be placed along Rt. 72, just south of Gilberts and east of the tollway where she died.
